Belotero
Belotero is a family of hyaluronic acid fillers that are considered to be the most versatile injectable treatments for fine lines and winkles, as well as severe folds and creases. Because of its soft, gel like consistency and unique characteristics it is adaptable to your specific needs.
Belotero integrates smoothly into the skin to subtly enhance facial contours and expressions. The wrinkles and fine lines around your mouth, nose, and eyes will be smoother after Belotero injectable treatment.
How does Belotero work?
Hyaluronic acid is a naturally occurring sugar found in the joints, skin and eyes. It binds with water in the skin to retain moisture and diminish wrinkles. As we age and with exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet radiation, HA production diminishes. The result is obvious dehydration, atrophy and loss of elasticity which characterizes aging skin. Adding back the lost HA yields a temporary increase in cheek volume, reduced undereye hollows, and to fuller lips.

During your consultation, Dr. Kandula will take your medical history including reviewing your medications and evaluate your skin and listen to your concerns and aesthetic goals. She will determine if you are a good candidate for Belotero, and the areas to be treated.
The procedure
Before your procedure, she will map out the areas to be treated. Your skin will be cleaned, and she will use a fine gauge needle to inject. Most Belotero products contain lidocaine to reduce discomfort during injection.
Results are immediate and typically last 6-months depending on the area treated. There is minimal downtime, and many patients return to their normal daily activities immediately. You may be advised to avoid strenuous activity, and sun and heat for 24 hours.
Mild, temporary side effects may include redness, swelling, bruising, and tenderness at the injection sites which typically resolve within a few days depending on your sensitivity. Most patients opt for follow-up treatments to maintain that smooth, youthful appearance.
As with all dermal fillers, results are technique dependent. For the best results your injector should have the training, skills and knowledge to provide natural looking results and must have an extensive knowledge of facial anatomy and an artistic eye. Dr. Swetha Kandula is a board-certified dermatologist and an expert injector with proven success.
